Verduno Pelaverga is a fragrant Piedmont rarity, valued for rose, raspberry and a gentle peppery edge rather than huge tannins.

Gian Luca Colombo also works with Pelaverga, one of the Langhe’s most individual indigenous red varieties.
Verduno Pelaverga is typically prized for a lifted, peppery fragrance, pale colour and relatively supple texture rather than heavy extraction.
Roast duck, mushroom risotto, pork loin or herb-roasted chicken.
Serve lightly cool, around 14–16°C.
Pelaverga is a different grape from Nebbiolo and Barbera, and is often an excellent lightly chilled red.
